Since it’s an area of interest for me, as well as study of late, I thought an evolution page, from Darwin to the Modern Synthesis was in order. Below you’ll find a collection of links, most repeated from various blog post on Ichthyes, some not.
DARWIN
2009 is the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birthday and the 150th anniversary of his greatest work, The Origin of Species, the first complete manifesto on evolutionary theory and the springboard for Darwin’s own theory of natural selection. Evolution was not a new concept for Darwin and his contemporaries, but the mechanism he suggested for it, natural selection, was. In the past 150 years, new discoveries and our understanding of evolution have coalesced into what is known as the Modern Synthesis.
